2 ENOSH is also ENOS in some Bibles.

3 CAINAN is also KENAN in some Bibles.

The genealogy from Adam to Noah has a hidden revelation. The Hebrew meaning of each name forms a prophetic summary of all scripture.

Bishop James Usher used the various genealogies from the Bible to developed his chronology.

Bible genealogies help confirm the historical reliability of the Bible. Each name and list represents important information that has significance in much of biblical history.

The following dates refer to the Jewish calendar in Jubilees.

Book of Jubilees, is a collection of ancient religious texts found between 1947 and 1956 in caves in and around Qumran, along the northwest shore of the Dead Sea about 15 miles east of Jerusalem. Genesis on through Exodus 12 are dated by jubilees of 49 years, each of which is composed of seven cycles of seven years1. Most scholars do not accept the authority of these books so I am including some of the information given to give insite into Jewish history and to speculate about Adam's geneology.

1 This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.

In the era of the original writing, the book was probably a clay tablet. The Hebrew word ā'dām is used for both man or mankind. So this is the book of generations of man. God created Adam and Eve in the likeness of God. They are the "sons of God". We are the "sons of Adam" unless we have been born again. John 1:12 explains that God gives us the right to become children of God when we believe in His name.

And in the third week in the second jubilee [64-70 A.M.] she gave birth to Cain, and in the fourth [71-77 A.M.] she gave birth to Abel, and in the fifth [78-84 A.M.] she gave birth to her daughter Âwân.

3 And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. After he begot Seth, the days of Adam were eight hundred years; and he had sons and daughters. So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years; and he died.

And Adam and his wife mourned for Abel four weeks of years, [99-127 A.M] and in the fourth year of the fifth week [130 A.M.] they became joyful, and Adam knew his wife again, and she bare him a son, and he called his name Seth.

Eve believed that God had appointed Seth as a replacement for Abel. Adam was created in the image of God; but his son was born in his father's image.

Adam and Eve had another daughter and more sons. Josephus, a Roman–Jewish historian, states "The number of Adam's children, as says the old tradition, was 33 sons and 23 daughters.";

And in the sixth week [134-40 A.M.] he begat his daughter Azûrâ. And Adam knew Eve his wife and she bare yet nine sons.

And Cain took Âwân his sister to be his wife and she bare him Enoch at the close of the fourth jubilee. (190-196 AM) And in the first year of the first week of the fifth jubilee, (197 AM) houses were built on the earth, and Cain built a city, and called its name after the name of his son Enoch.

Cain named his son Enoch and Later, Jared names his son the same. Cain's son was ungodly while Jared's son was righteous.

Adam died 126 years before Noah was born. Noah was the first of his line not to be born while Adam was still alive.

6 Seth lived one hundred and five years, and begot Enosh2. After he begot Enosh, Seth lived eight hundred and seven years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years; and he died.

And in the fifth week of the fifth jubilee [225-31 A.M.] Seth took Azûrâ his sister to be his wife, and in the fourth (year of the sixth week) [235 A.M.] she bare him Enos.

Greek and Latin translations of the Old Testament refer to Enos. The Hebrew text and English translations used Enosh.

The Arabic writers make Seth to be the inventor of the Hebrew letters. He dwelt in the mountain and instructed his children not to mix with Cain's people who were in the valley and ordered them to serve the Lord.

9 Enosh lived ninety years, and begot Cainan. After he begot Cainan3, Enosh lived eight hundred and fifteen years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years; and he died.

Enosh (aka Enos) was faithful and invoked God's name in a positive way. He is in the ancestry lineage toward the Messiah.

And in the seventh jubilee in the third week [309-15 A.M.] Enos took Nôâm his sister to be his wife, and she bare him a son in the third year of the fifth week, and he called his name Kenan.

12 Cainan lived seventy years, and begot Mahalalel. After he begot Mahalalel, Cainan lived eight hundred and forty years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years; and he died.

According to the Book of Jubilees, Cainan's mother was Noam, wife and sister of Enosh; and Cainan's wife, Mualeleth, was his sister.

Cainan was the possessor of great astrological wisdom, which had been inscribed on tables of stone.

And at the close of the eighth jubilee [325, 386-3992 A.M.] Kenan took Mûalêlêth his sister to be his wife, and she bare him a son in the ninth jubilee, in the first week in the third year of this week, [395 A.M] and he called his name Mahalalel.

15 Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and begot Jared. After he begot Jared, Mahalalel lived eight hundred and thirty years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years; and he died.

And in the second week of the tenth jubilee [449-55 A.M.] Mahalalel took unto him to wife DinaH, the daughter of Barakiel the daughter of his father's brother, and she bare him a son in the third week in the sixth year, [461 A.M.] and he called his name Jared, for in his days the angels of the Lord descended on the earth, those who are named the Watchers, that they should instruct the children of men, and that they should do judgment and uprightness on the earth.

The book of Enoch reveals that sometime before he turned 292, Mahalalel explained to Enoch the first of the two dream visions which described the coming flood. At the time of Mahalalel's death, Noah was 234 as per the Masoretic chronology.

18 Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and begot Enoch. After he begot Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years; and he died.

And in the eleventh jubilee [512-18 A.M.] Jared took to himself a wife, and her name was Baraka, the daughter of Râsûjâl, a daughter of his father's brother, in the fourth week of this jubilee, [522 A.M.] and she bare him a son in the fifth week, in the fourth year of the jubilee, and he called his name Enoch.

And he was the first among men that are born on earth who learnt writing and knowledge and wisdom and who wrote down the signs of heaven according to the order of their months in a book, that men might know the seasons of the years according to the order of their separate months.

And he was the first to write a testimony and he testified to the sons of men among the generations of the earth, and recounted the weeks of the jubilees, and made known to them the days of the years, and set in order the months and recounted the Sabbaths of the years as we made (them), known to him.

21 Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

And he (Enoch) was the first among men that are born on earth who learnt writing and knowledge and wisdom and who wrote down the signs of heaven according to the order of their months in a book, that men might know the seasons of the years according to the order of their separate months.

And in the twelfth jubilee, [582-88] in the seventh week thereof, he took to himself a wife, and her name was Edna, the daughter of Danel, the daughter of his father's brother, and in the sixth year in this week [587 A.M.] she bare him a son and he called his name Methuselah.

According to the Book of Jubilee, he was with the angels of God and wrote the first calendar. Then he was taken into the Garden of Eden.

25 Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and begot Lamech.  After he begot Lamech, Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years; and he died.

And in the fourteenth jubilee [652 A.M.] Methuselah took unto himself a wife, Edna the daughter of Azrial, the daughter of his father's brother, in the third week, in the first year of this week, [701-7 A.M.] and he begat a son and called his name Lamech.

Methuselah was recorded as the longest-lived human. When Methuselah's name means "when he dies, judgment," and died in the same year God judged the sinful world with the great Flood of Noah's day.

28 Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and had a son. And he called his name Noah, saying, "This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed." After he begot Noah, Lamech lived five hundred and ninety-five years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years; and he died.

And in the fifteenth jubilee in the third week Lamech took to himself a wife, and her name was Betenos the daughter of Baraki'il, the daughter of his father's brother, and in this week she bare him a son and he called his name Noah, saying, 'This one will comfort me for my trouble and all my work, and for the ground which the Lord hath cursed.'

And at the close of the nineteenth jubilee, in the seventh week in the sixth year [930 A.M.] thereof, Adam died, and all his sons buried him in the land of his creation, and he was the first to be buried in the earth.

At the close of this jubilee Cain was killed after him in the same year; for his house fell upon him and he died in the midst of his house, and he was killed by its stones; for with a stone he had killed Abel, and by a stone was he killed in righteous judgment.

For this reason it was ordained on the heavenly tablets: With the instrument with which a man kills his neighbour with the same shall he be killed; after the manner that he wounded him, in like manner shall they deal with him.'

32 And Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

And in the twenty-fifth [1205 A.M.] jubilee Noah took to himself a wife, and her name was `Emzârâ, the daughter of Râkê'êl, the daughter of his father's brother, in the first year in the fifth week [1207 A.M.]: and in the third year thereof she bare him Shem, in the fifth year thereof [1209 A.M.] she bare him Ham, and in the first year in the sixth week [1212 A.M.] she bare him Japheth.

The Book of Jubilees is interesting to read, however, it is not authoritative. It can be helpful for us to understand the culture and beliefs in that time. It is interesting to see how a Jewish sect used, and even tailored the Old Testament story, to fit their own worldview. But we should know that this is not Scripture.
